City buys downtown "superblock;" plans new library & children's museum

Today the city of Myrtle Beach announced plans for a new Chapin library and an adjacent children's museum.  It'll be built on recently  purchased land along 9th Avenue North and Kings Highway, adjoining Nance Plaza.

The city began purchasing the property today, at 'fair market value' and will be buying from willing sellers, according to Mayor John Rhodes, at a press conference early this afternoon.
