The Ironwood Stage and Grill in Calgary is finally moving into it's NEW LOCATION.  On April 14th and 15th Tom Russell will have the honour of being the very first act to grace the much larger stage of the Ironwood's NEW, IMPROVED, BIGGER location at 1229 9th Avenue S.E.
 
For those who may not know, this address belongs to the Historic Garry Theatre in Calgary's Inglewood district, and The Ironwood promises to be the best thing to ever happen to this majestic old building.
 

...Oh boy!! It's been a while again since I blogged, & GUILT finally got the better of me.

Well, first of all - The Ironwood! Still not open in the new location, but SOON!! A few glitches and delays have held poor Pat up again. As of today he has told me probably April 1... but isn't that just like Pat??? April Fool's day!!

Pat MacIntyre, the owner of Calgary's favourite Roots (& more) music venue is looking kinda like Merle these days - Haggard that is - but inside he's positively beaming!
Pat recently gave me a tour of the NEW Ironwood Stage & Grill  which should be open fairly soon. The popular club is staying in Inglewood, but is moving a couple of blocks west into the Historic Garry Theatre location.

Well, looking back it's been a while (again) since my last blog. Ain't procrastination grand!? ...give me a moment & I'll get back to you on that...

I do have a bit of excuse though, as I had surgery on my elbow prior to Christmas & it slowed down my already inefficient typing speed, so I was doing as little as possible.

So. a good looking start to 2010 in Calgary as far as roots music goes. Here's a brief listing for you.

 Well OK it IS me, and if you CLICK HERE & scroll down to my bio, it suggests that I could have started in radio when I was 5 years old.

 I recently got an email from Mike Giunta, an old friend from my days WAY back at CHEZ FM in Ottawa, where I got my start in radio.
Turns out that Mike has recently moved and was unpacking when a photo fell out of a box onto the floor. When he flipped it over to take a look, there was the PROOF!

Along with other "Babes For Breasts" colleagues Amanda Rheaume, Chloe Albert, Dana Wylie, NLX, Leela Gilday and Ana Miura, Ann is to be commended on her contribution to the "Babes For Breasts" tour. They are all part of the Western segment of this national tour raising funds for breast cancer research. This past weekend they raised $2500.00 for the cause with merch sales & donations etc, & that's NOT including the profits from the gig itself.

Well, Alberta's very own CORB LUND is breaking big south of the border with a brand new CD.
